Short Film Making Project

Image
First off, I really enjoyed doing this project. I thought it was awesome that we were able to display what we had learned so far and put our minds together to make a short film! The film genre that my group chose to do was comedy-horror. We decided to film it inside of an empty classroom, and have me walk in thinking there was still class today, only to find on the white board written "No Class." All of a sudden, the blinds strangely start closing, and while I went over to check it out, the door slams behind me. The camera pans to see someone walking slowly to me, but when I turned around because of the sound, the girl is gone. Because of these strange happenings, I decided I wanted to get out of there as soon as possible, but as I'm walking out, the lights start to flicker. I find that the door is locked, and I turn around to see that all of the chairs have been flipped upside down. While I continue to struggle with the door, the camera shows the...

Moonlight Film Review

Image
Moonlight was easily one of the best movies I think I have ever seen. I went into this movie not really knowing what to expect but I was very pleasantly surprised. The movie starts out with a young boy who goes by "Little" and has a very rough home life. His mom sort of neglects him and is a drug addict, so a man by the name of Juan takes care of him. The two form a special bond, and Juan teaches Little how to swim. One day, Juan sells some drugs to Little's mom and the two get in an argument over him. At the dinner table one night, Little asks Juan what the F slur means, and ends up asking Juan if he is a drug dealer. When he learns that Juan is, Little walks out and never sees Juan again. It's at this point in the movie that it changes to Chiron, older Little. It shows him in school getting bullied, and a more in depth look into his home life. There is a scene in this section where Chiron and his best friend at the time share an intimate scene on the beach. The...

Cars Film Review

Image
I think it goes without saying that Cars is just simply a great movie. While it is very different from the other movies that we have watched in class, I do not know a single person that can say something bad about the movie. It starts out with the main character, Lightning McQueen racing for the Piston Cup, when the race ends in a tie, the 3 drivers are supposed to head out to California to settle the win. On McQueens way there however, he someone falls out of the back of his truck and winds up in a little town called Radiator Springs. However, he doesn't just end up there, he destroyed a good chunk of the street on his way. The town decides that he needs to repair the street before he can leave, but McQueen had big plans he needed to attend to. While McQueen is working on getting the road finished, he ends up befriending most of the town and realizes how much he likes the place.  At first he thought everyone was weird because they were rusty or awkward, but aft...

Jaws Film Review

Image
Jaws, directed in 1975 by the great Steven Spielberg,  was a thriller and one of the greatest block buster films of its time. When Jaws hit the theaters it was a big hit because nothing like it had been made before. This movie features a shark that apparently is on the hunt to eat the people of Amity Island. The head police officer of the town, Martin Brody, decides to take ont he mission of killing this shark. He bring up the issue to the mayor, who does not agree with the idea to shut down the beaches since it a town known for their beaches during the summer. They decide to let it go, until another little kid gets eaten by the monster. Once they decide to close the beaches, it is decided that the shark needs to be killed, so Brody, Hooper, and Quint set sale to capture it. Quint was a man with a lot of expertise in killing sea creatures and Hooper was a marine biologist. While it was an interesting group, the 3 men worked together to kill t...

Swiss Army Man film review

Image
Swiss Army Man was probably one of the most interesting films I've seen. It starts out with a man, Hank, who is stranded on an island. Hank was about to end his life when a man appears on the beach, looking quite dead. Upon further examination, the dead man appears to be alive because he is farting. Now we all know that was just from his body starting to decompose and get rid of gas, but Hank refused to believe that and decided to give the man a try. He soon found out that the dead man could be a way of transportation because of his gases being so aggressive. One day they are sitting in a cage, and the dead man blurted out some words defying all odds. It is then when Hank decides to name the man Manny, and the two become friends. Manny is not able to move around very gracefully on his own so Hank has to do all the heavy lifting for him. Manny also asks many questions because it seems as though he doesn't remember anything from the life he h...
